The Grot, Lake District

"Walking in the footsteps of William Wordsworth".....

"The Grot" (built in the 1668) set within the grounds of Rydal Hall in the Lake District has a gorgeous window (which you can't see here) where Wordsworth would sit and write poetry while looking out on to the falls.

The Grot is certainly not grotty....and if you ever go there, try the carrot cake in the Tea Rooms. I only nipped in to ask where the loo was, but when I saw the carrot cake, well I couldn't just have one slice could I......

Photographed from the bridge at Rydal Hall in the Lake District...Rydal Mount was William Wordsworth's home for over 35 years...
